Sehwag!!
by Amit Kripalani on Nov 25, 2007 09:43 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

First of all I am not writing this coz m a fan of any indvidual. I am writing this coz I am a fan of Indian cricket. About Sehwag. All of us remember this guy's failures..all of us remember when he dint score runs later in his stint as one day or test batsman..we all love to hate him..but why do we forget that this guy had it in him..he had scored runs and when he used to score runs we had so much success. Dada benifitted hugely by sehwag's success coz India won a lot of matached under dada's captaincy when this guy played well. Why do we forget he is our most successful oprning batsman. The guy has some talent. No one can deny that. Y dont we encoutage him. We need him as an opener in Test matches. I agree he is probably no in form like he used to be but he also had failured in between all the successes. But one thning I like about dada during his captaincy days that he supported his players during their failures. Players wernt dropped from left right and centre. Y do we forget even these players are humans and the new ones that are going to come arent going to hit sky from the work go. like some ppl are behind dravid. The guy is an excpetional batsmen. Though I consider him as a traitor during Chappel Ganguly episode and he showed he not that an exceptional person nor captain. Anyways dravid should be in unless sumthg goes wrong miserably. And sehwag should be given a chance as an opener. As great Gavaskar says "Form is temprory. Class is Permanent."

Amit, it would be better if Sehwag was in form. Old records dont matter and only present form matters. But at present Sehwag is out of form and has to perform out of his skin in domestic cricket to get his place back. Or else some other player has to fail very badly for him to be in the reckoning.

thats wt my point is..he is a test opener now..and we always hv room there..we always hv 1 guy doing well and other guy doing badly..dinesh should be given a longer stint but y do we forget that he is also a make shift opener like sehwag was and is more likely to fail..none of our middle order batsmen are going to open.. not even dravid..even he doesnt like it in tests..though he virtually ends up playing as an opener but he still prefers no.3. Thats his slot. we cnt ask yuvi to open. he is going to miserable in front of ball bouncing a swinging...who do we have..I say sehwag coz if reasons explained..he has the talent and has proved..who else can open..if dere is he shoudl be given a shot..but when dinesh karthik is used as a make shift opene its obvious we dont have any options

I agree to what u said. But we have to put the best team for the Aus tour. We cannot afford to have out of form players only because of good past records. The player has to perform as of today.

n lets not always keep our domestic cricket as a benchmark.coz honestly if we do dt then there r tons of players who will say we have good domestic record and we should be given a shot..but we know how much talent comes out..anyways was just giving my opinion..U and I are not going to select the team anyways..lol..so newvamind

Sehwag has got the most chances ever for any player in the history of Indian cricket and he didnt perform and he is facing the consequences.

I think if we are looking for a replacement for Karthik, then Gambhir would be an ideal choice as he is in goof form.

Ganguly is the only Hero born after Kapli Dev in India team. He is a true hero, much above the petty Indian politics. We 2-3 persons of such charqacter to again become world champion. All all have somethings to lear from him, how he lead the Team India, how brought up youngster and most of all his come back shows to us we how to come out triumphant from filthy indian politics.

Another of the idiotic Ganguly supporters. Did Ganguly win a world cup for India???? Answer this and then you will know who is the real hero. He has not even won a match for India single-handedly.

pls try to acquire knowledge before comment.

Your point about Sewag is fine. However, at the moment, he isn't enjoying his cricket. Perhaps, he needs a few more chances and be taken to Australia. However, the guy has to play in as many matches as possible. So far, he is scoring a fast 20 or 30 runs, a far crcy from the 200s and 300s that he was scoring.

By your own yard stick of not changing people left and right, you would want to give Dinesh Karthik another chance. The guy has scored at an average close to 50 in test matches opening for india in 2007. you dont want to get back to that chopping and changing game.

Again. What is that about that Dada and that garbage Coach Chappel? Ganguly is a fine player and the best when it comes to mental strength. Please dont compare him to that bull that we had as a coach. We are looking past that waste of a period when that guy wasted this talented Indian Team. If you are supporter of that failure, then you must start supporting Rajathan Team. This guy has become their coach. Mark my words. That team and state cricket wil go down the drain in no time. This guy isnt going to improve nothing. He is a political garbage that doesnt deserve to set foot in india again.

Talisman. I am not a fan of Chappell but he has done one good thing - remove Ganguly from the team. Actually Ganguly was the only non-performing member in the team and as he was the captain, the selectors were also not very strong to remove him. If it was not for Chappell, Ganguly would not have come back and performed as he is doing today. Some credit has to be given to Chappell also for Ganguly's success.
