Pathan could have been brought back instead of Munaf Patel It appears Indian Selectors' mindset does not change be it the joker Raj Singh Dungarpur or the seasoned Dilip Vengsarkaar. One of the greatest blunders and crime committed by the selectors in the past was with Ramnath Parkar who was Sunil Gavaskar's opening partner. He was an outstanding fielder in the covers and was IGNORED inspite of his outstanding performance in domestic cricket He was selected for the inaugaral Prudential cup in England and just a few days before the team left for England Parkar was dropped and Parthasarathy Sharma was selected!!!!!!!! to go to England for the world cup. That Selector who committed this grave sin should hang his head in shame and if he has to atone for his sins should financially help the late family of Ramnath Parkar.

Agree with you regarding late Ramnath Parkar. Parkar got a raw deal from selectors as well as BCCI.

I too agree with you. Bringing back pathan has 2 advantages. we can play with 4 bowlers and pathan can be a 5th bowler and an all rounder. With this, we will get to play with 6 batsman, 1 all rounder and 4 bowlers.
With this, we have to decide between dinesh kaarthik/Dhoni as keeper and if dinesh has to play, dhoni has to sit out and if both dhoni and dinesh has to play, one of lakshman or saurav should open with dinesh kaarthik.

Pathan is a waste as test bowler. He has lost his swing, has no pace, and relies only on variation. Bowling slower ones, off spinners and occasional faster ones at 130kmph may work in ODI for a brief initial period, but will certainly a waste in test matches.
With his current bowling style, he'll sooon fade away from indian cricket arena.
