Blind love to the extreme
by Kannan SivaramanViswanatha on Mar 30, 2007 06:26 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

The news about warm welcome to Ganguly beats my imagination. When the whole country is crying over the loss of its prestige on the international scene and is yet to come to terms with the ignominious exit, we have our patriots from Bengal cheering their leader! What a shame! Have we lost all sense of objectivity?

Yeah Kannan. 'Objectivity' lies in defacing cricketers' homes and abusing them, right?

Hi mate, you are a master in reading between the lines, I never meant it that way. Both examples are wrong. Firstly, we should learn to treat our heroes as humans and not like demigods. Second, we should have the equanimity to take things in our stride and look ahead. Lastly, Ganguly certainly does not deserve "a warm welcome" which only goes to suggest that his followers are happy about his performance regardless of team india's. That is what is objectionable. Nothing else. He certainly deserves a welcome, an uneventful one at that!

Yes, Bengali's are happy that their Daada was instrumental in bringing up Bengal's pride by India Loosing to Bangladesh. Had their Daada not stood and wasted 35 overs without scoring required runs and making a mockery of the game,Bangladesh wouldnt have won the match. Hence Bengali's gave a heroes welcome to him

We lost the Bangladesh match because of pathetic performance from Dravid and Tendulkar. In first 2 matches it was Dada only who kept the innings going otherwise team India could not survive 50 overs like the match against Lanka. In fact Dada and Sehwag scored maximum runs in the tournament from India. Bengalis are deservedly proud of Ganguly performance in WC 2007.Shame on fans who still find no fault with Dravid but blame Ganguly - a player who has scored 6 fifties in 9 matches since his ODI comeback.

You are so right Mr. Indian. We as bengalis are really proud of Ganguly. He single-handedly took India to defeat against bangladesh. Poor sachin, if it had not been for saurav he surely would have scored a 200 against bangladesh and india would have won the match.
When Britain's labor prime minister Clement Attlee was about to pass the Indian Independence act his long-time rival, conservative, legendary Indian-hater Winston Churchill had commented 'Clemet does not know what a blunder he is about to commit. Indians are savages.Once they get freedom they will eat each other alive in the name of caste, religion and language.'
Mr. Churchill was so right. You have just proved it Mr. Indian.Congrats!

Here Support to Ganguly by Kolkattans means his win over Chappel and rest of the Indian Patriotic selector's defeat.

This is a good sign as only Ganguly could make some runs on the West Indies pitches by which we are still able to show our faces in the crickting world. Others made nothing but a mess.

Come on everybody,Give 3 Cheers for Ganguly.

Give him a booted garland. He needs one for scoring some scratchy runs well below world cup standards (run rate) on your behalf.
