Coach, what coach?
by Thayir Saadham on Oct 31, 2006 10:37 AM   Permalink

This is the Aussie definition of "Coach": Anything with wheels that takes you to the ground and back. And this definition was coined by the illustrious elder brother of the current Indian coach. This fervent cry to remove Greg Chappell and all's well with the Indian team is plain nonsense and a stupid rationalisation to avoid facing the plain truth, that we simply are not a great team as the media hype wants us to believe. We are not even a good team, at best an average team that can provide glimpses of brilliance at times - bit like the Kiwis. If you can accept that bitter truth, then all's well. If you still want to take a leaf out of the Aussie coaching manual, then don't pick players to attain the ultimate honour of representing the country, unless and until they have proved their worth in a consistent manner in the domestic circuit and in 'A' teams. And be patient, and put all your unrealistic expectations in suspension for a few years. Imagine you planting coconut saplings - wait 10 years for them to bear fruit.
