Dear Editor, These comments or question, whichever way you may want to put, I wonder if the strategy of Indian team specially related to batting order is correct, keeping in view the conditions of African pitches. In my view, at present team strategy seems to be centered on sub continental pitches where opening batsmen has to score as much as possible taking full advantage of power play. However, in Africa this would not work as pitches are fast and thus your best batsmen are exposed to worst batting conditions, which appears to be brave Strategy but not clever strategy. on the other hand, it would be better if openers should be asked to pass few over without loosing wickets and moreover openers should not be the best scoring batsmen rather more technically accomplished ones (but not Dravid), which would allow the scoring batsmen to come at the stage when the ball is few over old as well as pitch is better assessed by the openers and thus providing better opportunity to score runs. Hopefully these comments will be made available to our coach and captain so that they can give a thought on this strategy.
