statistics are funny...
by kunal savarkar on Nov 22, 2006 02:32 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

...they don't really mean much. what is the rational for splitting up their careers into 25 test periods? not defending Tendulkar (i think he is a bit over rated- at the cost of somebody like dravid); but because lara has scored 216 does not mean Tendulkar is a lesser player.like i said stats are funny business. i am a lover of cricket statistics- i devour my copy of wisden- but never will i make the mistake of judging cricketers on their figures.

Yes you are absolutely right. Dravid has never been given the credit he deserves. He has a better average than all the three "Great" players in question and yet he does not figure here. In fact my top three present test players will be Ponting, Dravid and Lara, in that order. Sachin was great-Not anymore...He may redeem himself by retiring but playing anymore is only going to bring down his average and take a little more shine off his already fading career.
