Was it right to send Irfan back??
by Kumar on Dec 31, 2006 10:04 PM   Permalink

Sending Irfan back is a right decision. Making him the only scape goat is a very unprofessional reason. They should have sent couple of players also with him measuring on the same scale

1. Virendra Sehwag - to get his famous hand - eye coordination back

Reason: Pathetic oneday series batting, atrocious test match batting

2. S.R. Tendulkar - to get his old touch back

Reason: Scored only in irrelevant match (last oneday)

and irresponsible way of getting out in 2nd test match. Of course, 1st test match was another of those bad outings.

If they do this then it will be a impartial, professional and honest recall and all the other players will put a premium to their place and work hard to atleast playing harder on the ground.

This clearly, passes a message to everyone that cricket is above everything.

If not, if we go by previous records and fame, we will see this ups and downs and more blogs will keep coming!!

BTW, I am guessing that Sehwag won't be dropped from the team for the 3rd test as the team management will be in favor of having 'seasoned performer' in team. Also, Gambhir doesn't have 'match experience' which may go against him. Keeps sehwag's sponsors happy Any bets!!
