How can one say that Dhoni is No.1 Batsman in ODI ??? He is like Tarzan,trying to play polo by swinging from branch to branch. Come on,the guy has no technique and is just gifted to connect the ball so very often.Can we rate someone just because he manages to hit the ball anyhow ??

People are interested in players who can win matches for his team.Dhoni is one who can do that.He has got a good strike rate,good avg,match winning knocks ,what more is wanted.

Yea rite...According to you a person who uses techniques and scores the least should be No.1 rather than a person who scores the most without using so called technique. Give him a break.

Absolutely,a wonderful decision. He changes his batting style according to the situation.Besides he says he'll do anything for the team. What more can one expect? He's proved himself in every order,which is something really difficultand cannot be achieved by everybody!
After all he has a very neat and calm temperament. Nothing more should be expected of him and it is not fair!

It is the duty of a batsman to score runs on every opporunities he is getting, no matter whether he is a stylish batsman or not... In that case, Dhoni is the no.1 in the world now. You must agree the fact instead of critising him. We all know that he is simply hitting the ball with full force, not a stylish batsman , but the fact is that he is scoring runs than other batsmen and he is a match winner for India. Just appreciate him instead of critising..

I totally agree with Mr. Gopi. Tell me what batting in cricket is all about? To connect the ball and manage to hit it in the right areas, which Dhoni does brilliantly and that comes to him very naturally. Purpose of all batting techniques are to connect the bat with the ball without getting out, Dhoni has an awesome average of 50 plus in ODIs, do you still call that a fluke. No doubt Dhoni is best among the lot who has won a number of matches single-handedly for the country and we love this TARZAN for that! ....Moin

An ODI is not jus abt technique.... A gr8 ODI batsman has to possess great timing, placement, an excellent strike rate and above all consistency(read variance in scores) and versatility to bat the opposition out in all kinda situations...
A proven match winner, Dhoni has performed well at whatever no. he has come in and not to forget...there has never been a newcomer who has adorned the hall of fame so fast..

What a comparison for Dhoni!!!. Wow appreciate you sense of comparison. I am sure Dhoni must be liking this...And yeah!!! if you think he is like Tarzan, I agree he is, coz Tarzan was unique and so is DHONI. A unique cricketer, with loads of talent, and please don't bother about technique, who cares as long as you are making runs and making the country proud with awesome triumphs..."When you are thirsty; It doesn't matter what you drink as long as it quenchs your thirst"...
