I dont recall David Gower singling out Sachin as someone special, while talking high of many other cricketers. The reality is that the magic sheen of Sachin is now dulled, and he is vainly attempting at defending his vulnerable record from Brian Lara. If you read between the lines, even Gower seems to be saying 'lazy elegance & graceful retirement' go together.
