Wishful thinking
by Indian C. Fan on Sep 30, 2005 06:16 AM   Permalink

This opinion piece is unreasonably optimistic. BCCI's track record doesn't inspire any confidence that it will do the RIGHT thing to make Team India into world beaters.

- Matchfixing scandal. All BCCI did was to bury its head in the sand like an ostrich. When the public's outrage become too much to ignore, all the BCCI did was to appoint a Chandrachud to eye-wash.

- Sponsorship hassles. BCCI continues to act directly contrary to the interests of the players. It treats the players as serfs.

In this scenario, it is impossible for the players to do well.

As long as we fans keep watching, the mega-bucks keep rolling in, and that is all BCCI cares about. If you want to see any changes, start boycotting cricket. Hit 'em where it hurts. Then see BCCI come crawling.
