I want another man to lead my country
by Anita on Sep 28, 2005 09:06 AM   Permalink

We have known for ages that for the BCCI, cricket is a hobby. Ah, when you are into cricket purely as a hobby, certainly you are not going to bother with the whole process of who and why and hows. It is only concerned with how to take all the credit and when it has to make painful decision, looks the other way. Indeed!

But I digress. I am an Indian and like 8 out of 10 people, a passionate fan of the game and our team.

For 4 years, we were proud to be led by an aggressive, passionate man helped in no small measure by a foreigner whose passion for a country and its people that had only employed him, embarrassed us.

Now this first man is no longer the "God through the off side" or the master savager of spinners nor a piler of runs anywhere in the batting order. That man is a pale shadow of his former self. His decision taking is painful to watch, aggressive nature has begun to grate on us. As a player, instead of improving, his decline has been fast and continuous. As a captain, most players have lost respect for him.

But I want to win the next World Cup. I want my team to be the best in Tests.

I want another leader. Give me Dravid as Captain and Kaif as his deputy.
