Don't let anyone intimidate you
by Subhash Paradkar on Aug 27, 2007 12:37 AM

Mauli:

You can't let anyone intimidate you. You will see historically a bias towrds Pakistani singers to apease them. There is also a cultural bias towards western music and culture.

People need to understand that you are simply entertaining performer and your Guru has a lot of influence on selecting songs for his own agenda. You are also in a male dominant society where women are devalued and looked at more sensual objects. Even women are less agreesive to protect their own devaluation. A lot of Indian woman rather support Pak singers w/o really understanding their own submissiveness than to support other women. I would select the songs that suit your voices and continue to hit it, rock the boat and do it with Josh and become Yalgar. You need to travel India before coming to US.
