Kiran More talks sensibly in not blaming the entire debacle on Rahul and Greg. But Rahul did make some mistakes in selecting Sachin, Sehwag, Harbhajan etc. who were not performing. Greg also has introduced quite a few players but his insistence on Raina is stupefying. 18 months is a very short time. If people are willing to learn and change from their mistakes, there is no harm in continuing with Rahul and Greg for some time but they should do a rethink on their blind spots. But in the name of experience, Sachin and the others should not be given a long rope but unceremoniously dropped without a second thought. As More has said, we need coaches with coaching experience. We find a lot of ex-players pitching for the post of coach on TV but that should not be the criteria. The idea that once selected is for life should be given up. As soon as there is a persistent drop in form, the player should be told to regain his form and then be in the team. It is not just a question of young talent but how many of them are really able to face up to fast bowlers on fast pitches that matters. So all the young talent (bowlers and batsmen) must have compulsory internship on foreign pitches before they come into the Indian side based on that performance too.
