RE:LO BEHOLD - THERE GOES THE REAL PROBLEM
by Harinder Toor on Mar 28, 2007 12:58 AM

Well said bro.. I have been reading some articles and such for the past couple of days abt indian cricket.. Bishan Bedi said "I don't know what will be better for Indian cricket.. winning the cup or noto winning the cup". I guess we lost and we lost so badly is a good thing hopefully. This will pull out the axe on some of the players who take their place for granted, be it sachin, saurav, yuvraj, bhajji etc.. Honestly speaking, none of our players performed in the WC.. you need 11 to perform and in our case all the 11 failed.

Forget the past and learn from the mistakes.
Some suggestions for the future which I would like to make would include.
1) Avoid playing too much cricket (reduce the number of matches played)
2) Physical fitness, we were probably the least fit team in the tournament or maybe pakistan was the worse but the point made.
3) Fielding is as important as batting and bowling and we need to set certain standards for that and not allow any exceptions.. I am sure you all saw the catch murli took to dismiss ganguly and the attempt he made to catch uthappa.
4) Mental fitness. Frankly speaking, our team was not mentally prepared to win the cup. They lacked the spirit, killer instinct and they were led by a non-agressive captian - no offence to dravid fans.
5) set the standards high in the ranji. have a different style of pitches.. dont have pitches to suit only spin bowling because the fact is not all matches are played at home. Have green surfaces.
6) Last but least, media and people have to treat players as humans and not gods, all sports have failures and india had a bad tournament. its unfortunate but lets face it, it doesnt change nothing in our daily schedule. so lets just watch and enjoy the sport instead of "breathing" cricket.
I could go on and on and by now a lot of you want me to stop writing.. so any comment are welcome.
