Many people (experts and laymen) have tried to find the reasons for Indian cricket%u2019s loss at the world cup. And most of them have acknowledged that Indian cricket players are talented. But I do not agree to such perceptions at all. When I look at the Indian cricket team with my "big picture approach," I find that team is comprised of people without muscles and strong bones!!! And, a weak mind (sans guts) further has worsened the team%u2019s performance. We Indians do not measure performance objectively, but are inclined to form an opinion on the basis of what%u2019s heard on the street and the media. I am just curious to know the selection criteria adopted by the godfathers of Indian cricket. My perception is that the selection is based on the opinions at the dinner tables, and other casual meetings of the godfathers. I would also not rule out the telephonic recommendations of higher ups in the political faction. No wonder, I can only see skinny, week minded, selfish, records-oriented (not results-oriented) cricketing demi-gods in the team! India cricket team is a reflection of the political class in our country. In my opinion, all 11 players in the team should be sportspersons in the first place and then cricketers. I say this because cricket is basically a lazy person%u2019s game. There is a strong need to mould real sports persons into cricketers and I don%u2019t see this happening at least till India cricket loses its political clout.
