Good Deeds of Little Masters
by Indra Sengupta on Feb 24, 2007 08:40 AM

Gavaskar once said that he would never play at the Eden after he was pelted with oranges following his failures in the Eighties, but at the GD Birla Sabhagar two day's back he chose to bury the past. He did not play the Test against Pakistan in 1987. It at would have been his last Test appearance at the Eden.

At the Calcutta Sports Journalists%u2019 Club%u2019s golden jubilee awards function, Gavaskar was presented a Lifetime Achievement award for his contribution to the game.
Mithun Chakraborty presented the award, a citation, a plaque and a trophy, mementos, a caricature and, of course, the traditional Bengali sweet delicacies like doi, mishti.
Sachin Tendulkar donated his 194 not out gloves for the medical treatment of a Kolkata Moidan Referee Pradip Nag.
Just two day's days back the gloves fetched Rs 1,11,000 on auction and the ailing man was crying on this gesture of the little master. Sachin followed up with an SMS to the Prez of Sports journalists assn.
Ganguly also rushes for charity works, saves many critical and dying patients arranging for the much needed funds.
However, our salute goes to both the litlle masters for all their good cricket, good deeds and charities.
Kolkata loves both of you Sirs
