Sachin is supremely talented but his form of batting needs very high level of hand-eye coordination which does not get better with age especially against talented opposition. Gavaskar on the other hand was far more successful against the West Indian and Australlian fast bowling greats on THEIR fast pitches because he had the right technique and depended less on luck to get a sho through. Sachin may have been hurt by comment on his commitment - but anyone who lives on past glory to justify one's position in current dispensation despite poor performance against opposition and occasions that matter , is perhaps showing commitment only to oneself. Not to the team. Not to the country. Indians being emotional people will always lap such sob stories - perhaps Sachin's highly paid media managers advised him to do so. Its easy to make an aggressive Gora a scapegoat before the judgement day.
