If Federer loses the series then Pete would have dented Federer's "Greatest Ever" image. Whereas even if Federer wipes out Pete, people would say, Pete is an old journeyman, which might be true. Federer has taken a safe gamble of defeating Pete and silencing few supporters of Pete for the "Greatest Player" title. But it might boomerang and could prove costly, 'coz Pete is a great competitor and won't give it away easily.
