Who said islam gives the highest status to women. it degrades women by forcing a particular lifestyle upon them. The so called hindus( i hate to use the word hindu as the word is given by arabs and never is found in the so called ancient or hindu scriptures) worship women in different forms. Mother is given a highest status. I dont deny that religions like islam dont respect mother, but still a women hasnt any freedom. Women is treated as a commodity and so asked to cover herself up with what ever kind of veil be it a hijab or burkha. Why not educate men to look at women with a respectable feeling. Its like not diagnosing the root of an ailement but it is like covering up a wound.
