I agree 100%. People do not need religion when they are spiritually and morally enlightened. As seen in most western countries, more developed you are, you tend to move away from God/religion. I don't think God would mind if you are good but don't worship him/her/it :). Except, those following Islam. For some strange reason they cling on to religion no matter how much educated they are. I have seen top brass muslim scientists insisting on halal meet in US. Highly educated and brilliant student like Muhammed Atta did not mind 9/11. Look at our own Syed Shahabuddin - MSc physics and IAS officer but a hardcore fundamentalist muslim who supported constitution amendment for triple talaq. It is amazing how they can brainwash their followers.
