its not mumbo jumbo ... in general terms a society should serve the following purpose
- enable good people to live happily (as opposed to pleasurably) - enable the holy ones to excel in virtues and propagage sublime, divine ideologies - enable the offended to get Justice in a timely fashion - diligently root out opposition within itself to ideals that it strives for - protect at all costs the flowers of the garden which make the garden fragrant and worthy and pluck out the disease causing and damaging weeds
the basis of all this idealism is the concept of the Universal Spirit. If there was no human Spirit and endeavour, i think one can eat and drink and live merrily and die like a dog, no need for a complicated human birth! The greatest civilizations have always promoted Godliness and Spirituality and the worst have ignored Divinity and followed the path of Mammon to destruction! Hindus are really great because they are the true spiritual religion of tolerance and patient acceptance. At the end of Kali Yuga only India would be left, all other islands will be completely destroyed paving a way to a new Satya Yuga. This theory is correct even from the Yin/Yang theory of the Chinese which is nevertheless borrowed from the great Sankhya theory of Kapila!
Never forget the concept of Avatar which is unique to Hinduism. The wrath of God will lead us into permanent perdition and endanger the soul. The body which all people in the wide world consider as "all that is there" is bound
