Wrong Info on Tibet
by malar mannan on Mar 22, 2008 04:05 PM

Your correspondent's stating that the Dalai Lama fled to India after a failed uprising against Chinese rule is TOTALLY WRONG. Tibet was an autonomous body, practically a free and separate entity and China, all of a sudden, overran it with its mighty army and annexed the region. The Dalai Lama and thousands of Tibettans took refuge in Hindustan, the land that has the distinction of providing assylum to whoever is driven out from their native land. There was no cause for any uprising on the part of Dalai Lama as Tibet was NEVER under Chinese rule before. It was a buffer state between Hindustan and China. Now that China had devoured Tibet, it is emboldenend to claim Hindustan's Arunachal Pradesh as its territory!Had Nehru mustered courage and opposed Chinese occupation of Tibet, citing the burden of maintaining Tibetan refugees, America, UK and all Western powers would have taken up the issue and China would have made a retreat from Tibet. Unfortunately, Nehru, the role model for the present rulers, was a chicken hearted. He was also under the influence of Marxisit ideology. Nehru was already described so by MC Arthur, the US Commender-in-Chief once.
In nineteen fifties, China was NOT as powewrful as it is today and thereofer, it could have easily been thrown out from Tibet, the land of very peaceful, harmless and friendly people.
