Tibetan Issue - India should clear stand
by jamsheed basha abumohammed on Mar 20, 2008 09:28 AM

Tibet is in the news recently for uprising against the Chinese Rule.Dalai Lama's intention in organizing such a protest is not known.May be the timing was wrong.Bejing is to host the much awaited Olympic in the near future. Is it an attempt to force the issue or tarnish the image of China. The bottom line, like all other leaders,Dalai Lama has also played his trick in the present uprising.Chinese are no naive to such situations. They will handle the issues in their own way.But what is required is clear India stand on the issue.Whether India will lodge just a protest terming it as an internal affairs or make it public that China should alter its policy towards Tibetans. This is what is required from the Govt since the Tibetans are living in India as refugees and Dalai Lama is running the govt in exile from the soil of India. India has border problems with China including Arunachal Pradesh.Chines must be told in unequivocal terms that they should find a lasting solution and that negotiation is the best possible way for this problem. They must invite the protesting leadership for a negotiated solution. Whether the protest will continue or not it will depend on the China's behaviour and their handling of the situation. The uprising will continue if their repressive policy goes on.If they deal with them with compassion and have a dialogue to find a permanent solution in accordance with people's aspirations, there will be no problem declared the representatives.China should act fast.
