Much of the so-called Islamic advancements in science were actually the Indian civilization's inventions and discoveries, including the number system we use today, which were taken by the Arabs and later passed on to Europe. The numeral system we use today was erroneously for years erferred to as the Arab Number system by Europeans for centuries. The record was much later set straight by European mathematicians who finally acknowledged that it was actualy the Indian number system, which the Arabs borrowed. Similarly other gerat advances in sicence and medicines by ancient Indian civilization was in the field of geometry, surgery, and astronomy.
Pity there was no patenting or copy-right system those days - lot of knowledge was taken from India and passed off as European or Arab inventions.
