A crime is a crime. It is more heinous when the police try to protect the criminals than work to get justice.
Here is a gritty mother who is fighting the establishment which wanted to treat this like any other crime, as you say. Her persistence in ensuring that the culprits are caught and jistice done is really appreciable.
The Chief Minister of Goa, Digamber Kamat, made a silly remark accusing the mother of being responsible for this tragedy. In such an event, do you expect his police to behave professionally? Most Indians, and Indian politicians, and police will want to run with "chalta hai" (it is OK) attitude. But, Fiona must be supported in her fight, just to ensure that the police will know its duty is to protect the innocent and catches all those who are party to such a crime.
I disagree with the view that this case is because of fascination for white skin.
