The confusion that exists today in Pakistan should help Musharaf make a point with his boss the US. The point that he could easily convery to the Amercian establishment is that the experiments with democrasy will produce no result and that he and he only will remain the best bet for the Americans in their fight against terrorism .
The Americans recognize that they need a stable ally in what is currently the the most important hub of global terrorism. Once it is proved that Zardari or Navaz Sharif can not play that role the Americans will pull out from pushing Pakistan into the democrasy wagon. When ever that happens Musharaf will shelve the whole democratic process and revert back to the military dictorship that he ran till yesterday. In this whole drama Mush will be the one to laugh the last and as is the dictum ' he who laughs the last , laughs the best !' In the long run the world may be a much safer place with Musharaf in power rather than a wily Zardari or a power hungry Nawaz Sharif.
