Goans Fleece Tourists
by JM NewDelhi on Mar 09, 2008 06:07 PM

The recent death and cover up by police of Scarlett's rape & murder suggests that there is police nexus in all dealings and tourists are fleeced of their belongings, their virginity and their money too. It has already been confirmed that people have bought bungalows against the law and the Govt. wants to take action against them may be by taking away their rights of ownership. This is police collsion. Tourists, Indians & foreigners both come with money and they are at first encouraged to invest in Goa and then told that the policy framed by them was illegal. This is what happened with RP2011, SEZs and with a number of policies in the name of "interest of people". The Govts may come & go but the policies made statutory cannot be over turned like that. Taxi people, police and pubs & bar owners charge exorbitant rates from tourists. It has been going on for a number of years rather decades. This has prompted the policemen to have a cut in every dealing of whatever nature. In bigger issues, the policies are changed at the throw of a hat because it has favored another group of politicians. Watching this situation from the sidelines, other goans also find it opportune to bribe, take a cut and follow other corrupt practices. The result is that Goa is facing SUNSET in the land of plenty.
