Unbelievable!

This gentleman's ideas are quite staggering! That the people of the north-east still want to be part of India is a tribute to their patience. The views expressed by Mr. Rijiju are however not uncommon. Bhupen Hazarika from the north east has mentioned similar thoughts before. It's a matter of shame for Indian politics that only people who make noise get noticed - the uglier the noise the more are the chances of getting noticed. The terrorists know it and make use of it to get what they want. The peaceful people of Arunachal and Assam miss out. So separatist movements are born. There should be a decentralized administration policy in the country divided on a zonal basis with higher levels of authority and money allocation powers. However, I'm not so sure about taking a confrontational stand regarding China. It's better to deal with this thru negotiations. If they do clandestine stuff, it's best to respond with clandestine measures as well - gentle reminder to come back to the negotiation tables.
It's highly imperative to have another Bangalore or Ahmedabad type commercial center developed the northeastern area. The commerce could be trade with the far eastern neighbors or even China. There should also be promotion of tourism related infrasturcture because that area is pristinely beautiful. Finally, english language skills in those parts should be leveraged by BPO type businesses.
