Please resign Sir!
by Khandu Patel on Jun 24, 2008 04:50 PM

This deal is Dr Singh's baby whose midwife is Sonia Gandhi (or is it the other way round). I find it hard that Dr Singh, the clever man he is supposed to be, swears by the proposed deal. It just goes to show that some clever Indians can never get over the attitude of servility built into their genes. Though Dr Singh is the stopgap PM until one or other of the Gandhi's can grow into his shoes, it is less apparent what has made him the doormat for the American nuclear ayatollahs. My finger points naturally to Sonia Gandhi. Bharat had suffered all manner of indignities in its 1,000 years of servitude to foreign rule and domination. But one principle remained intact that Bharat's history had laid it down that the supreme authority in the country would not reside in any foreign person. This is the same principle that Nehru himself had reaffirmed in decisions he made. Yet as the puppet master of the UPA, that is the power Sonia Gandhi has been exercising over the GOI.

If the deal is half as bad as the scientists have described it, it is a Frankenstein monster the country could do without.

Bharat no doubt wants to secure a strong partnership with America. It should not have to take the scientists to have to advise the PM and the country on the implications of American policy and law. His Minister's attempted deception and the American's cheap tricks have not impressed, nor the PM's offer of resignation. The country would suffer no loss and be glad of it.
