The implications
by Pawan Singh on Jun 19, 2008 12:16 AM

It is futile to blame people like the UP police when we have a structure that favours incompetent, spineless buffoons to rise to the top.

We give unbridled power w/o accountability to our politicians. Institutions are encouraged to protect them. Remember the hawala case, the St.Kitts case, the fodder scam case, and .......... Poor Lakhubhai Pathak died in bringing a top politician to book. These politicians play hell with the institutions to serve their vested interest. Look at the consequence: Our culture is in a shambles.

What culture can we claim when we incarcerate a grieving father and destroy him on suspicion by buffoons seeking a scapegoat? I am not saying Dr.Talwar is innocent. I do not know the facts. But our culture should have prevented us from draconian action w/o solid evidence. Once the evidence gathers by all means book him but then we are dealing with an aberration and not a father.

It is notable that not one politician or party spoke up for the concept of the father. And they seek to be called leaders!

I pray Aarushis death will not be in vain. It is time we insist on protection of our institutions.
