In late 70's heavy flood affected the life of ordinary people in TN. I was about 8 yrs at that time. I still remember the party workers of ADMK carrying rice bags of 50kgs on their head and distributed it to the poor. MGR ordered distribution of 50 Kgs of Rice, one saree, one dhoti and Rs.100 for every family.
The mid-day meal scheme was a grand success. Now all other states were following it. It all helped people to improve their education and living standard.
