Bharat in its original form
by Bharat Kr on Jun 10, 2008 11:38 PM

We must revert back to all original names. Our nation's ancient name was Bharat or Bharatvarsha. Bharat or Bharatvarsha word correctly depicts our civilization, culture, history and heritage. India (that is Bharat) is merely a geographic name, derived from samskrit word Sindhu (river). Delhi must be renamed as Indraprastha, which was its original name. The original name of Ahmedabad was Karnavati, it must be reverted back. So as, Allahabad must be reverted back to Prayag and Patna to Patliputra. Original names truely reflects our ancient history, culture, heritage and they are so beautiful names. I appreciate Odisha govt. Better late than never. Sometime back, Assam was reverted back to Asom (which is a samskrit word means land of unequal topography).
