The confessional statement alleging a split is just a ploy to shield sleeper cells so that police would not touch that faction or let it go or worst TRUST them. SIMI's role has changed to a terrorist organization. All student organizations have a parent politicla body which regulate the angry youth there and channelize their energy into more productive purposes but there is no organization which regulates SIMI and hence are easy prey to fundamentalist agendas.
