Even i see the messages on Rediff and get the idea that anti muslim sentiment is very high. It looks like only a trigger is required for riots to take place. Just imagine what would happen if Modi or Advani were assasinated.

The problem is partly because there is not enough initiative from citizens to further the cause of communal harmony and getting the two communities to interact with each other.

Communal harmony is often taken as appeasement of the minorities. It is not. What is done by parties like the Samajwadi party, the Congress, JD(S)...well these are examples of minority appeasement. The Karnataka CM offers a government job to Haneef who is acquitted by the Aus govt. AP CM YSR offers reservation to the Muslim community. And SP fields candidates in UP who are charged with terror attacks or belong to the underworld with a notorious criminal background on the basis of their religion. Actions like these are greatly in the detriment of the nation.

We need to promote communal harmony on one hand and keep appeasement at bay. One of the problems with the Muslim population is that a huge segment is very backward and narrow minded and believe that they live in India but do not belong here. why they would even support Pakistan openly in cricket matches. I for one dont understand the protests carried out in India by the Muslim population when Saddam Hussain is executed. But what the Hindus dont understand is that we cannot generalise this mentality as that of all Mu
