Ammonium Nitrate - a bomb fertilizer
by Narayanamoorthy Vanamamalai on Jul 17, 2011 05:35 PM

Ammonium Nitrate is a nitrogenous fertilizer used for increasing crop yield. It has explosive properties too. Substitute to other N fertilizer can be recommended by Agriculture Ministry and ban can be imposed on manufacture and imports.End use of the fertilizer should be monitored by State Fertilizer Control Order/Essential Commodities enforcement authorities. This is not normally done at field level. Any farmer can go and buy at a fertiliser shop without any prescription for this explosive stuff.A fertilizer used by farmers to improve the crop yield is easily available to terrorist to disintegrate the society. Its time Ban is imposed and alternate fertiliser is made available for farmers use.
