Communism is great in theory. To each according to his needs & from each according to his ability. The problem is the second part. Having seen how it works from inside a place called Kerala, I have suffered it. Never again!
The privileged are the unionised. Does not matter whether you work for the govt or private. One need not even attend office to get paid also by the shirtless, starving man in the street. Those with iron rice bowl talk & breath exploitation. With overtime wages, they get more than their non-unionised officers in the bank etc. Also a system of loading & unloading goods & even household items will get the coolies (goondas) paid many times compared to other states. So head to the liquor shops for your daily fill. But "paradise" does not last. One by one, all outfits closed & people headed for Gulf & even faced Bal saheb in his den to keep the body & soul together. Their families left behind got used to the money only & when the day of reckoning came, came back to a strange home & people! It was like a nuclear winter, with total isolation.
Ditto China, but they turned to free-market with a vengeance. Vietnam is on the mend. Cambodia, still reeling from the 2 million dead, killed by their own Pol Pot practising a virulent form of peasant uprising, putting even Hitler to shame. North Korea & Cuba trying baby steps from Kim & Castro family fiefdom.
Times have changed, dear comrades. First produce wealth than idle talk. No easy way out!
