The BJP might have opposed certain reforms in the past. But the good thing about the party is they learn from their mistakes. Don't forget that they were the one's who kicked off privatisation and liberalisation big way.
As for Advani's comments on nuclear deal, I think there's nothing wrong in what he has said. There is no doubt we want nuclear energy to secure our future energy requirements. The question is at what cost? Don't forget, the IAEA inspections on our facilities shall be in perpetuity, the fuel supply may not be...there is enough ambiguity, as pointed out by the experts in the text of the agreement, to prove this point.
What if the IAEA inspectors tomorrow want to inspect BARC? Would you want to allow it? There are legitimate concerns that need to be addressed. The government has a bare simple majority on the issue. That they dare to go ahead with it without evolving a broad national consensus is audacious and dangerous. I am afraid the national faultlines may become more wider due to this....!
