There are two aspects to the unprecedented events unfolded in the Parliament . One, the act of bribe giving and taking and two, the open display of the currency notes in the well of the House. All along over the years people have virtually accepted the role of money power as being an integral to our Legislative/ Parliament number game in case of fractured mandates, even it could not be proved.Hence , the first aspect needs a thorough enquiry by the Speaker without any further delay and the culprits should be brought to book. Even the available tapes forming part of evidence can be made public for the people to judge for themselves. In respect of the second aspect of smuggling the currency notes inside the parliament, it exposes serious security lapses besides lowering the dignity of the House. Mr. Advani in his press briefing outside the P- House immediately after the incident admitted that, he had permitted the three MPs when they sought permission from him to do what they did inside the Parliament. As the Leader of the Opposition I do not think it is very responsible act on his part. Supposing somebody had cleverly slipped in few explosives inside the bag without the knowledge of the MPs , then even worst could have happened !
