Cross-voting
by hrushikesh acharya on Jul 25, 2008 09:11 AM

We, the people of India, try to send the most suitable person to represent us in the Parliament. They are supposed to act in such a way as to reflect this trust from the voters, and act with conscience for the good of the people and the country. NOW we see the drama in the recent trust vote, and realise that we made a mistake in reposing such trust in them. These MPs are now seen as nothing more than rubber stamps, while voting for crucial issues before the nations. They cannot exercise their mind and right thinking, for the good of the country. They are being forced and coerced to vote in a manner defined by the party, and not as per their conscience. This betrays the trust we placed in them. Hence all this type of democracy is only a farce, whem the MPs cannot exercise their free choice. It is therefore high time that this form of democracy or party rule is changed, and replaced with some sane arrangement.
