One problem though. If we can't get our thorium reactor technology to work, then we will be dependent on uranium supplies from other nations for a long time. Basically energy security would shift from being dependent on Arab/ Iranian oil to being dependent on Australian / Russian uranium.
Of course, if we get thorium reactor tech to work then we just need uranium as initial feed, so it would be fine.
And there is the thing about nuclear waste, which could be a big issue. I'm not sure if we get to use it for reprocessing.
Yeah I agree , eventually India being the 3rd/4th largest economy should have at least 1000 nukes as deterrent against China (an economic competitor and a respecter (sic) of power and rich people). Chinese are very easy o understand. Dunno how Nehru screwed it up so bad.
