The Biggest Dilemma of All...........DEMOCRACY
by Shailendra Singh on Jul 19, 2008 08:15 PM

Sorry to sound Hippocratic but it is the truth. Our political leaders have abused the whole democratic process for their own selfish intent rather than the nation's.
Today we all cry about the political hell created at the center, we are ashamed as educated people to hear that Behenji could be the PM in the making, we dream of charismatic leadership which overthrows all evil......but..we don't care a dime about election day.
The right to abstain from voting is the biggest dilemma of our democracy. The right to vote when we are just 18 years old...still teenagers and just passed Junior College( in most cases)...is a dilemma. The right to ignore the real reason for slums coming up everywhere around us and being included in a voting constituency ,is a dilemma.
The Old saying that as you sow so shall you reap still and will always hold true. Uneducated ,poverty struck, orthodox people will always vote for a behenji in return for that water connection or a ration card or an electric connection or in a majority of cases, a public garden cum playground with some cricket kits, gully tournament sponsorship, public toilet,etc...
They will not talk about new energy solutions and R&D,Minimum wage and Labor reforms, IPC reforms, Reservation based on economic condition and not caste, result oriented municipality and panchayat raj....add whatever else comes to your mind.
My whole point is "go and vote" even if you have that all important meeting scheduled. Select a leader who is accountable
