You are Hindu and thats why you enjoy the liberty to either believe in the existence of God or Not at all. Hinduism accepts both version, the Corporeal (meaning Shiva) and the Non Corporeal (Shankar). Its only Hinduism allows such liberal views. Had you been from any of the real religion such as Judaism, Christianity or Islam, you would have been blasphemed and burnt at stake. Thats where Hinduism stands out from others. We can reach God by Dharma (Doing ones Duty), Karma (By doing ones Work thats rightful and just), Dhyana (By Meditation on the Unknown), Gyana (Just as we are doing now,by discussing and exchanging of knowledge, whether God exists or not). To help us in our goals we need to practise Tyaga (i.e to scrifice just as these brave armymen did in the call of duty for defending ones motherland)Tyaga is not simply sacrifing life, but worldly pleasure, sense gratification and materialism. Then only one gets moksha, i.e. Salvation, just as these Brave Armymen's soul has received. They are not Sadhus or Holy Men, yet they have achieved what many Saints may not achieve in many birth. This requires penance. Now amongst these Army men, some could belong to other religion too or may have been an atheist altogether, yet they have by performing their duty have achieved Moksha. God only sees the attitude in the person not what he says, but does something else. So be proud that you have been born a Hindu.
