Kerala is the first place in the whole world where the communists came to power through ballot and not bullet/bloodshed. It was the people of kerala that voted the communists to power. People admired the communist leaders & their ideologies which they took to their heart annd voted these communists to power. Leaders like EMS Namboodiripad, AK Gopalan, EK Nayanar are still admired by the people of Kerala. I agree that the communist pary in Kerala lacks such ideological leaders now. The role of the communsit party in bringing Educational and social reforms in Kerala is unquestionable. Come to gods own country, you wont find any caste based oppression or caste based politics as you find in many other parts of India. It is the well informed people who decide whom they should put in power. Its not the money from real estate goons or the miners that decide the fate of the elections here. The people matter here and they wont allow the politicians to make a buffoonery of the electoral process with the sort of political trading that even a Bellary buffalo trader wont resort to. Its not that Kerala vote blindly to put communists to power and want a govt like in China or N Korea, where . People have faith in the most ( not all ) of the social and political ideologies of the left and beleive that these can make a difference.
