They had opposed Nuclear tests in 1998. They now oppose this as in a way, this pushes India in bigger league and in more direct competition to China. CPM will be happiest if India could grow at 2-3% and they can happily keep on brainwashing poor people. They must be really afraid of modernization as their philosophy has failed everywhere except China to some extent. It gives them pleasure to see China getting far ahead of India in everything.
