RE:NUCLEAR AGREEMENT BETWEEN INDIA - USA
by amol on Jul 17, 2008 06:25 PM

Adithya - do u really think the issue is about energy? I am sorry but you have misunderstood the whole problem. I have yet to meet an Indian who disagrees with the need to get MORE energy resources. The problem is that the price being asked by the Americans is to take complete charge of India's foreign policy. Which means that next time AMERICA decides to invade a country like IRAQ , it could well force India to supply troops or back ups - Now what if we don't - well it will do exactly the same as it is doing NOW.... They will threaten to take away the DEAL from us as they are doing now.. This is the issue - an issue of sovereignty.

Lets say I had told you in 1995 that you cannot upgrade your computer. And if you do I will take away the electric supply to your house.. And you agreed to it... NOW you can see how in 2008 you would be stuck with WINDOWS 95 while the world may have moved on to WINDOWS VISTA or XP..

That is another pre-condition in the agreement. That India cannot do nuclear tests to keep itself updated. Now the reason for that is that our dependence on the USA will increase as we get deeper in the hole.

SO please make the effort of knowing what exactly is the problem. We are all Indians and we all have the same love for our country.

Would you want your kids to grow up under an American flag? That is the issue...
