Sorry Nuclear energy especially the first generation technology touted by the government dependent of Uranium technology is the wrong approach to nuclear energy having examples of Three Miles Island, Chernobyl which even the American's have given up this fantasy and not built a single nuclear plant since the 1970's. When our scientist have made many breakthrough like development of Fast Breeder technology on the commercial scale which has the ability by estimates of our AEC chief of giving 500,000 Mwe and almost unlimited supply of bomb making Plutonium, and When we are waiting for the government go ahead which has cut the budget for Thorium plant. The commercial scale AHWR thorium plant having the only worlds only nuclear reactor that runs on U-233 a fuel derived from thorium, we should focus on technology that are both environmentally safe and less risky higher generation technology like this AHWR. Why is government emphasizing imports, dependence, and inspection of our own technology while Pakistan and china is not loosing one nuclear plant capacity to produce bombs.

There is no justification except the government and PM Singh statement being formally against India’s nuclear program and testing in Prokran II. His goals of making India part of nuclear main stream, meaning NPT
