Speaker Somnath can disqualify all leftists before the vote.
by viswanatha seshadri on Jul 17, 2008 12:07 AM

As Yechuri has admitted, it was a mistake for leftist parties to include the speaker's name in the list of lefist MPs submitted to the President. It is an affront to the constitutional position of the speaker. It has been further aggravated by Karat demanding his resignation as speaker, implying that the speaker is still under the orders of leftist party leadership, even after his election as speaker. In view of this affront to the constitution, the speaker can disqualify all the leftist MPs for the rest of their term, before the vote. The NPA will easily win the vote, with the leftists kept out of voting. After the deal is processed, MMSingh can resign and call for fresh elections. Congress may win again under his leadership. He can then choose really competant ministers without having to satisfy sonia's churchian demands.
