Freedom of press
by Sudip Bhattacharjee on Jul 15, 2008 09:57 PM

I am wondering if any Indian newspaper will ever be able to publish a cartoon like this. Let alone the future PM, can we publish a cartoon showing Modi in a army camouflage with guns killing others. I don't see any reason why we shouldn't be able to do so. After all, its about the freedom of press. The cartoon shows the real color of democracy and freedom of speech in USA and we should all learn from them. I know some of you will jump onto the discussion of freedom of speech after 9/11, but that is another issue related to security. I am talking about simple political freedom of speech and in that regard, we don't have any parallel to the USA in the whole world.
