The nuclear deal
by krishna kumar sinha on Jul 14, 2008 10:02 PM

It is good thing that the issue has got good publicity and has generated enough arguments, both for and against.
The country was divided in 47 without any debate. Just executive action.
The Kashmir issue to the UN was also without any debate.
However, annexation of Hyderabad to the union was a proper executive action and the nation is grateful for it.
The nuclear deal is an opportunity for the country to move away from the shakles of the left which has always worked against Indian interests, be in 1942, or in 62, or in matters of labour law reform or in presidential election of 2001-02.
India needs all kinds of power/energy to industrialise, to create employment opportunities and to usher in real socialism as in USA; which is being emulated even by Russia and China.
We can not progress without the help of West, and this is an opportunity. After all why our scientists could not harness Atomic energy to the extent China, France UK or Canada did having made the begining before China. Did the west prevent us. It is better to discard the bogey of swadeshi as has been done in case of DGTD. The economist PM means business and will surely bring prosperity thru the process of liberalisation and industrialisation. Those who oppose are obscurantists.
