The LTTE is not funded by any church if they are why is the west so much agaisnt them? Even if they are fuded so what? they are fighting for all Eelam Tamils aorund 80% of them are HIndus. The LTTE leader is a Hindu and so are around 80% of LTTE cadres. Their relgious break up is 80% Hindu 20% Christian like th native Eelam Tamils. The Eelam Tamils are very secular in thoer outlook . They are very relgious but do not let relgion or caste generally colour thoer judgement when they vote or elect a leader. That iswhy the Ltte is supported by all native tamisl be they Brahmin or Dalit HIndu or Christian. Most Tamil leaders amongst teh Eelam Tamils were Christians. However they were all elcted by electrates that were more than 90% Hindu. Pirabakaran belongs to the lower karaiyar caste. However he is largely supported by the largel y upper caste Vellalars and the jafan Tamil Brahmins. Cast and religion for us in someting personal. At present even these barriers are breakign fast as al Eealm Tamils have bene discriminated that they have bonded very closely with each other as a people.
